Photo Album #17 Cox/McCulloch

Photo Album #17 (Cox/McCulloch) I believe this album belonged to the family of Henry “Bruce” Cox (1903 – 1970) and Jessie “Alene” McCulloch (1914 – 1998) of Pictou County, Nova Scotia.

Size: Approx. 13 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ x 1 1/4″ # of Photos: 203; Photos in corner tabs and some loose. Photos are in the order they appear in the album. Where I have noted any captions regarding photos, I have added them in quotations, exactly as written, including spelling errors. Uncertain of when and where I obtained this album.

Photo #1

Caption: Written on back: “This is Bruce & Red. Doesn’t a uniform look good on Bruce. Bruce wishes he was only ten years younger and he says he would be in the R.C.A.F. Red is a little taller & heavier than Bruce. Notice the silver thaw on the trees. Taken Sunday, March 30th, 1941.”

Research: I believe this album belonged to Henry “Bruce” Cox (1903 – 1970) and his wife, Jessie “Alene” McCulloch (1914 – 1998). Bruce’s parents were Annabella (McMurchy) Cox (1869 – 1955) and Henry S. Cox (1861 – 1949). Alene’s parents were Archibald F. McCulloch (1867 – 1936) and Fannie R. McMullen (1869 – 1925). Bruce Cox, as was their only child. Bruce and Alene had no children.

Graham “Red” Bracken was a New Zealand airman who was staying with Bruce Cox and his wife Jessie A. (McCulloch) Cox during WWII. There is an interesting newspaper article (Photos #204, 205) regarding Graham Bracken that was in the album. Photo #173 is also identified as “Red” Bracken.
