The letters lack periods, capitals, etc., so I have transcribed without them also. Tried to make them as close to the original written letters, as possible.
For a bit more clarity however, I did leave extra spaces between what I thought were the end of a sentence, and the beginning of the next sentence.
Transcripts from both letters have words that I could not make out. If you can decipher them, please let me know what they are and I can add them!
Research: “In 1853 Robert Jackson built the 32 ton schooner “Dancing Star” on Mount Pleasant and hauled it by 30 oxen over the snow to Rocky Ford, a distance of two and a half miles.” “Brig. Dan’l Webster 1853 James Campbell et al” (Source: Page 7 – Newsletter – 1998 – Spring – Elizabeth Bishop Society of Nova Scotia)
Suggestion from a reader, Tom, regarding the missing words and what they could be: “the Garland” and “I think there surely will be feasting”.
