Loose Photos #4 – Mixed

This is a batch of mixed photos that were in a box of photos for sale in an antique store in Colchester County, Nova Scotia.

Photo #1 Caption: Written on front: “Aunt Charlotte” Written on back: “Mrs. S. L. Peters, Sydney CB Aunt Charlotte (nee) Richardson”

Research: I believe this is a photo of Charlotte Richardson b. about 1832 in Nova Scotia. She died December 25, 1898 in Tacoma, Washington, USA. Her parents were Rev. George Richardson (1790 – 1878) and Elizabeth Corcoran (1791 – 1874).

She married Samuel Peters b. March 18, 1833 in Nova Scotia. Died May 24, 1903 in Puyallup, Washington, USA. His parents were John Robert Peters (1799 – 1876) and Ann Crowdis (1791 – 1976).

In the 1881 census they are living in Sydney, Cape Breton.

Research: The photographer is Ernest Hatt (1875 – 1950). He was born in Mill Village, Queens County, Nova Scotia. He was married in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, but he also lived in Inverness and New Waterford in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

There are numerous George Kennedys but maybe someone will recognize this particular George Kennedy!

Research: This is Rev. Ezekiel Sipprell b. August 10, 1799 in New Brunswick, Canada. He died April 9, 1895 in New Brunswick, Canada. This particular photo is available elsewhere on the net.

He was married to Letitia Shaw, born July 16, 1816 in New Brunswick. She died April 7 1902 in New Brunswick. They had numerous children.

Research: Could this possibly be Simeon Nathaniel Rogers b. September 24, 1874 in Derby, Vermont?

Research: No luck finding this individual, despite all the information!

Photo #6 Caption: Written on Overleaf: “Lena, Easter/1918 Charles Whidden Lowrie”

Research: Charles Whidden Lowrie was born March 30, 1917 in Gloucester, Massachusets, USA. His father was Charles Wheaton Lowrie, and his mother was Emma Maude Whidden, b. January 23, 1882 in East Wentworth, Cumberland, Nova Scotia.

Research: Possibly Thomas Grant Whidden b. September 6, 1914 in Rochester, New York, USA. Died February 10, 2001 in Massachusetts.

Parents were John Grant Whidden born in 1880 in East Wentworth, Cumberland, Nova Scotia, Canada. Mother was Maude P. Davis born in Vermont.

Research: Anyone know the location of this school? There are X’s above Bert and Andrew – 2nd row from bottom, 5th and 6th children from the left. Andrew with the dark top with white and Bert behind him in a dark top.

This is a small booklet that was a Christmas gift given to Class No. 3 of the Walton Baptist Sunday School, Hants, Nova Scotia. Given by teacher Mrs. G. K. Prescott. No date anywhere.

Research: I believe this to be Rebeccca M. Jane Reid (1868 – 1944) married to Gideon Knight Prescott (1864 – 1943).

In the Canadian Census of 1911 they are living in Walton, Hants, Nova Scotia.

Possibly Royal L. Porter b. January 21, 1897 in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia.

Possibly Harry Havelock Huntley b. Nov. 14, 1894 in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. In the 1911 Census he is living in Hants County with his family.

Possibly John C. Card b. March 9, 1895 in Walton, Hants, Nova Scotia.
